Gorgeous in Grey: Turning a Cramped, Dated Kitchen into a Spacious, Modern Marvel

As the heart—and hub—of the home, a modern kitchen should make it easy for a family to cook and connect while beautifully representing their personal style. At Creative Contracting, we understand that every kitchen renovation is a unique opportunity to transform not just a space, but the way our clients live and create cherished memories in their homes.

Dark, cramped, and cut off from the rest of the main floor, our recent clients’ 30-year-old kitchen was in desperate need of an update that would give them a functional space to enjoy for many more years in their beloved home. The homeowners knew they wanted a brighter, more open layout that would allow for better flow and more family time spent together in the kitchen.

The Challenges

A classic older kitchen, this space featured a U-shaped, one-person work area that confined the home chef, making it difficult to host while preparing a meal. Soffits, peninsula cabinets and lowered ceiling heights blocked natural light, while Formica countertops, dated track lighting almond-toned appliances, and the original cabinets painted off-white all added up to a dated look that felt far from the modern, inviting space the homeowners envisioned.

In terms of functionality, the kitchen didn’t have enough room for the whole family to gather without feeling overwhelmed. While the eating area could comfortably seat six, it was awkwardly placed between the prep area and the neighboring living room, creating a flow that didn’t quite work for the family’s needs.

A New Layout

To open up the space, our expert team began by removing the soffits and overhanging cabinets to let in the light from the windows in the original eating area.

We then removed the old pantry closet and adjoining wall to reposition the refrigerator and microwave for easy access. A countertop cubby that houses the landline phone, charging station and mail drop also provides the perfect spot to set plates from the microwave.

With the peninsula gone, a new island with plenty of storage and an integrated outlet serve as a functional focal point, allowing for easy flow—and conversation—into the dining area. Our passion for crafting seamless transitions shines through in this transformed space, creating a kitchen that feels open, airy, and connected to the rest of the home.

Fantastic Finishes

A soft gray and neutral color palette brings a fresh, clean brightness to the new space.

Crisp white Shaker-style cabinets around the perimeter blend well with a textured gray subway tile backsplash, which reflects the light with its sheen. In contrast, the island’s light gray cabinet base adds a layer of interest while picking up the tone of the new LVF flooring and the upgraded stainless-steel appliances.

Quartz countertops with just the right amount of veining add definition, while cabinet pulls in a beautiful mid grey serve as just the right finishing touch.

Details Matter

We love walking our clients through the many selections available to achieve their personal vision. In this kitchen, quartz countertops with just the right amount of gray veining add definition and coordinate beautifully with the white and gray cabinets, gray tile backsplash, and the warm-toned flooring. For any project, hardware is like a jewelry accessory. Here, the new Ash Gray Top Knobs pulls add the perfect pop – not too light, and not too dark – just right!

Finally, a lovely vent hood above the stove and new induction cooktop serves as a stunning alternative to the old microwave that originally sat in the same space. The new appliances not only look great but also provide the homeowners with the latest in cooking technology, making meal preparation a breeze.

Functional Details

The improved functionality of the kitchen reaches beyond the added counterspace. After removing the track lights and overhead cabinets, we brightened up the space with new LED recessed lights, gorgeous glass pendants, and under-cabinet lighting—all controlled by dimmable switches—to create the perfect ambiance or workspace. The layered lighting design ensures that the homeowners have the right illumination for any task, whether it’s cooking, cleaning, or simply enjoying a quiet moment in their new space.

Storage is always an issue for any kitchen, so we designed this one with deep cabinet drawers throughout the space and custom pantry cabinets surrounding the fridge. These thoughtful storage solutions provide ample space for everything from cookware and small appliances to dry goods and cleaning supplies, keeping the kitchen organized and clutter-free. Furthermore, a deep sink makes it easy to temporarily conceal dirty pots and pans during a dinner party; and speaking of messes, the luxury vinyl flooring we selected is one of the most practical options on the market for cleaning up spills and withstanding high-traffic areas.

Finally, with the old peninsula gone, the dining area feels larger than ever—and much more connected to the activity in the main part of the kitchen. The homeowners now have a space that can comfortably accommodate family and friends, whether they’re gathered around the island for a casual meal or seated at the dining table for a special occasion.

Built for the Future

Our clients couldn’t be happier with this refreshed kitchen that hits all the right notes for their family’s lifestyle and aesthetic. After decades of a too-small space, our clients can now enjoy an open concept that’s perfect for connecting with loved ones and building memories for many years to come. The improved layout, updated finishes, and enhanced functionality all contribute to a kitchen that truly serves as the heart of their home.

At Creative Contracting, we’re dedicated to turning our clients’ dreams into reality, and this kitchen renovation is a testament to our expertise and passion. The original travertine floors seamlessly complement the new custom cabinetry and natural stone backsplash. Accent lighting plays a crucial role, and the uniformity of the glass elements contributes to enlarging the space and infusing it with a sense of brightness and warmth.

Transcend Trends with Transitional Design

The white cabinetry in this family-friendly entertainment space adopts a more contemporary vibe, enhanced by non-mullioned glass on both cabinets and windows, streamlining the overall design. Classic elements, such as traditional hardware and elegant trim, introduce a touch of tradition, resulting in a transitional design for the kitchen.

Crafting Dreams: The Journey of Renovating a Colonial-style home to a Luxe Modern Farmhouse

At Creative Contracting, we firmly believe that dreams can indeed come true. We understand that finding the perfect home can often feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. The lure of brand-new houses with their pristine façades often comes at the cost of sacrificing space and customization. Conversely, charming neighborhoods boasting lush gardens are sometimes plagued by dated houses that don’t quite align with modern tastes. That’s where we step in – when faced with the challenge of reinventing a home to fit a family’s unique needs and style within a realistic budget, our creative juices start flowing.

Revitalizing a Conventional Brick Home With Innovative Design

To begin, the exterior of the house will undergo a striking makeover. The once-traditional brick façade will embrace a sleek modernity with dark siding and touches of natural wood.

The brick itself didn’t escape the transformation, being adorned in a contemporary color palette that harmonizes with the overall aesthetic.

In the heart of the home, a new addition takes the form of a floor-to-ceiling windowed great room. This addition not only floods the interior with natural light but also capitalizes on the property’s serene backyard views, providing a seamless connection between indoors and outdoors.

Visualizing the Interior and Crafting Informed Design Choices

The journey from concept to realization starts with precise planning. A comprehensive floor plan is crafted, meticulously tailored to the homeowner’s wish list.

This particular plan unfolds into a breathtaking great room, a functional home office, and an open-concept kitchen that not only boasts ample seating but also caters to modern entertainment needs with a dedicated TV viewing area.

3D Rendering of Interior Kitchen

Traditional spaces like the formal living and dining rooms gracefully give way to a more casual and inviting living area, perfect for fostering family togetherness and socializing.

Keys to Design-Build Success

As we move forward in the design process, interior renderings become a valuable tool for conveying the envisioned transformation. Our clients step into our conference room, where three-dimensional plans come to life on a generous big-screen TV. This immersive experience allows them to tangibly explore their future space, making informed decisions with confidence. Once final selections are made, our drawings and renderings evolve to showcase these personalized touches, providing a visual roadmap for the project’s execution.

Designing a project – be it a modest enhancement or an extensive renovation – involves a multitude of moving parts. Our role extends from the initial spark of an idea to the grand finale of a completed project. The time invested in crafting a holistic design that aligns with both vision and budget is pivotal to the success of the project. Once construction is underway, specialized software becomes our ally, fostering seamless communication between clients, production teams, and on-site workers. This ensures that queries are promptly addressed and that everyone is on the same page regarding daily progress.

In conclusion, the journey of transforming this colonial-style home into a modern farmhouse masterpiece is a testament to our commitment to turning dreams into reality. With a blend of innovative technology, creative design solutions, and a passionate team, our Design-Build remodeling firm stands at the forefront of making our client’s aspirations come alive. A Kitchen Designed for Organization and Accessibility

Doylestown Kitchen Plans

Our Doylestown client came to us wanting to open up their kitchen to allow it to feel more connected with the other rooms on the first floor. They longed for a brighter, elegant kitchen that was more open and inviting. As you can see from the existing floor plan, the kitchen was separated from the dining area by two walls, leaving a small opening in between. This configuration often restricts the flow and functionality of the kitchen, leaving the home chef isolated while preparing meals. An enclosed kitchen also limits the amount of natural light causing the space to feel dark and cramped.

Doylestown Kitchen Before Image Dark and Cramped

Since the kitchen had been cut off from the rest of the home, the dark wood cabinets made the space feel even more cramped. They also struggled to find places to store all of their small appliances, kitchen accessories and snacks. The result was countertop clutter that further added to the uninviting feel.

Kitchen Open Concept Sketch

Providing the client with a sketch of the new kitchen allowed them to envision the space which was based on detailed requirements we uncovered during the design phase. They asked our team to design a space that felt luxurious and welcoming, with brighter colors, sophisticated cabinetry, and more space to store everything. To give them this grand, spacious feel, we proposed removing several walls and relocating the placement of many of the kitchen’s cabinets.  In addition, we suggested design options, such as white cabinetry with furniture trim finishes, a gorgeous stove hood and built-in appliances that give a fully custom, streamlined look.

Doylestown Kitchen Open Concept Finished
Once the renovations were completed, the once dated kitchen became an entertainment destination. The family can now comfortably accommodate large parties, meal prep with ease and store all their small kitchen appliances away.

Beverage Center in Open Concept Kitchen

To achieve their vision of clutter-free counters our team designed an elegant beverage center with hidden appliance storage. Now the kitchen feels like a part of a cohesive entertainment space and our clients are able to enjoy cooking in the kitchen while conversing with family in the dining room. And they’ll never miss a second of the big game on TV in the family room when they visit the kitchen for a drink refill.

Reconfiguring a Bathroom Into a Stunning Space

Bathroom Existing Floor Plans

At first glance, a tiny primary bath doesn’t appear to hold many design possibilities. That’s why our Ambler clients came to us to reimagine this space to make it something spectacular. The space included an awkward dressing area, which our design team realized held the key to transforming the space.

By removing walls and closets, we were able to open up the space to instantly expand the look and feel of the room. We took the underused dressing area and reconstructed it into a beautiful and glamorous bathroom space with a gorgeous custom vanity, an enlarged shower and plenty of accessible storage.

In the design phase, we saw an opportunity to reconfigure the doorways and suggested utilizing pocket doors to increase the usable square footage of the space. This allowed us to increase the size of the shower and make the space feel more expansive. The use of  3D renderings like this enabled our clients to completely immerse themselves in their bathroom remodel and experience their space before construction began.

Ambler Primary Bathroom Remodel

Working closely with the owners, we were able to fulfill the look and the functionality of the perfect en suite. They even have easy-to-access storage that can now house their large collection of accessories and shoes.

As you can see, working with the design-build team at Creative Contracting can help you solve some of your biggest home challenges. Ready to have the spaces you can’t wait to come home to, a home that’s inviting and made for making memories? Lighter and Brighter: See How We Transform One Warminster Kitchen Into a Multifunctional Masterpiece

Our Warminster, Bucks County clients approached us with dreams of a new, more welcoming kitchen. A young family with a busy schedule, they wanted to update the look of this space and add in more functionality. Together, each element of this kitchen was carefully chosen and designed to give this busy family a gathering place to create life’s most precious memories.

Bright and Breezy Open Floor Plan

Kitchen open concept

These Bucks County homeowners originally reached out to our team because they felt like their kitchen was dark and cramped. They longed for more storage and wanted an updated feel to the space which felt more bright and modern. To provide them with this kitchen facelift, we created a plan to open up the floor plan and remove the soffits around the window, which had been preventing sunlight from entering the space.

From Cabinets to Countertop, Crisp White Touches Add A Polished Aesthetic

Kitchen open concept before and after

As you can see by the before and after kitchen photos, these changes truly transformed the look of the space, bringing in a new crisp, clean, high-end look. The new kitchen features Luxury Vinyl Flooring in a warm, spring oak tone.

White custom shaker cabinetry with brushed gold hardware is complemented by two types of countertop finishes. Natural black stone creates a dramatic look around the perimeter of the kitchen, while white quartz along the ample center island keep the bright and open atmosphere consistent. To add accent and task lighting, we installed under cabinet and interior dimmable lighting, allowing the family to instantly set the right mood for the space.

To allow more natural light to shine in, we installed a new user-friendly set of three windows above a new farmhouse sink, replacing an oversized fixed window which didn’t allow for easy opening. Natural Carrara marble lines the perimeter wall, providing a backsplash with its soft, natural tones.

Bucks County kitchen remodeling

Across the room, we made sure to create the ultimate meal prep area. A cutting-edge induction cooktop sits flush against the countertop and is framed above by a generously sized arched hood, which we custom designed to perfectly match the style of the cabinetry. Located just a pivot step away from the cooktop, we installed a new refrigerator and stacked ovens.

Storage Solutions Throughout This Bucks County Kitchen

Because this Warminster family approached us for help with their kitchen storage issues, we wanted to make sure we fully utilized the space for maximum storage potential. Our goal was to make easily accessible storage that was convenient and efficient for this busy family.

A Kitchen Island Brimming with Storage

Bucks County kitchen island with ample storage

To increase the storage potential for our clients’ kitchen, we made sure to include a generously sized island which features plenty of useful places for all of their necessities. This all-white architectural element is centrally located within the space. To give it a built-in feel, we crafted it  with touches of trim to give the impression of a custom-built piece of furniture. The side shelving feature will provide the family with plenty of room for their favorite cookbooks and beloved decorative pieces. An elegant prep sink on the opposing side of the island adds further functionality and is conveniently located adjacent to the appliances. For the finishing touch, we installed two large gold chandelier-style pendant lights above the island for an eye-catching touch of elegance which elevates the entire space.

Bucks County kitchen storage solutions

Our clients love the unique and innovative storage solutions we present to solve their space issues. And our Warminster clients were no exception. From a floor-to-ceiling cabinet area to a matching appliance garage, we made sure each and every storage need was addressed. Open corner shelving and mullion glass doors provide places to show off the family’s personal style. And thanks to all of the options that exist in custom cabinetry, we were able to provide very specific solutions to the homeowners’ storage issues, such as a pull-out spice drawer that lets you instantly get a full view to quickly find what you’re looking for.

Enhance Entertaining with a Convenient Beverage Center

Bucks County kitchen remodeling firm creates appealing beverage nook

A finishing touch to this Bucks County kitchen remodel, the new beverage nook we created is sure to keep this busy family happy for years to come. Now, guests and family members alike can access drinks without disturbing the cooks in the kitchen. Featuring matching white cabinets and black countertop that stays consistent with the look of the rest of the kitchen, a mini fridge was installed for effortless self-service. This is topped with a gorgeous extra-wide plank floating shelf with under-lighting, which warms up the space and provides the family with a stunning way to show off their art and photos. A beverage nook is becoming increasingly popular with our clients because of the ease of entertaining it creates while providing a daily convenience to the homeowners.

Radiant Remodel: A Luxurious Modern Kitchen Makeover

When you’re a family who loves to cook and spend time together over a warm stove, every detail of your kitchen matters. Such was the case for our Wynnewood clients, who came to us wanting to transform their kitchen by adding in more light, as well as space for gathering and storing all of those cooking necessities. We got to work by presenting a design that the family loved, and from there, our team started meticulously transforming this traditional kitchen space.

Never Feel Left Out in the Kitchen Again

One major pain point we often hear from homeowners is in regard to a kitchen that feels isolated and cut off from the rest of the home. We’re big proponents of opening up and unifying spaces to make everyone feel more connected. To achieve this goal at our Wynnewood client’s home, we eliminated several walls that separated the kitchen from the other living areas. This immediately opened up the space, making it feel more open and airy, in addition to conveniently connected to the other rooms.

The Right Colors Bring a Kitchen to Life

It can be a bit daunting choosing the colors for a new kitchen with so many options for cabinetry, countertops and decorative backsplashes. That’s why we’re happy to help our clients through the process. Our design team stays on top of the latest trends while having a strong background in timeless styles and designs. We’re happy to show you renderings that help you to visualize what your new space will look like before committing to a decision.

For our Wynnewood clients, classic navy blue cabinets were the perfect choice to create both a modern and elegant look. This same blue was used on the kitchen’s new exhaust hood which sits atop the streamlined countertop burners. We complemented this rich color choice with sophisticated brushed gold drawer pulls. The look is further enhanced by sleek gray subway tiles at the backsplash, which feature a glossy glaze that catches the eye and lights up the space. To finish off the look of the room, we carried through the wide plank flooring into the kitchen, giving it a natural warmth that perfectly pairs with the deep blue and soft gray of the space.

Come Together Over Cooking Time

We knew our clients wanted to enjoy a kitchen space that provided room for every family member to gather at the same time. Whether it was chatting while prepping a weeknight pasta dinner or entertaining family and friends for the holidays, their new kitchen needed to be designed for memory-making. So we crafted a spacious island with plenty of space for seating and storage. We carried the gorgeous quartz countertop and navy cabinetry over to the island to create a cohesive and high-end look. Now the family can relax and enjoy each other’s company while meal prepping together in their serene and luxurious new kitchen.

Exterior Upgrades for This Maple Glen Home

Have you ever had the feeling that your home needs a refresh and an upgrade? That’s just what our Maple Glen clients were thinking when they reached out to us. The homeowners shared with us their desire to create a new look for their all-stucco exterior to create a modern style.

What Is Stucco?

Stucco is a cement-type mixture made of Portland cement, lime, sand and water. It goes on the outermost layer of residential structures and is set to a thin finish coat. Stucco has been a popular exterior finish for many years, but it has its limitations. Due to its brittle nature, stucco will crack as a house’s foundation settles, which can be a pain point for homeowners.

A Stone and Siding Façade Gives Instant Curb Appeal

The exterior of the house had been entirely stucco, but the homeowners knew the problems stucco could cause to the home. Many homeowners, however, are unaware of the risks stucco poses to the structure and durability of a home. Stucco is known to cause water infiltration, encouraging the growth of mold and rot in the underlying structure. We always encourage clients to move away from stucco and replace it with more durable materials that will protect their family’s health and investment in the property.

As you can see from the before and after photos, the switch to stone and siding for their home wasn’t just practical, it also provided a major update and created a polished feel to the exterior. Our clients have found that upgrading to stone and vinyl siding has been a smart investment that not only improved the appearance of their home but also increased its value and reduced maintenance costs.

Since it’s common to have to undergo a stucco remediation process prior to selling a home, our clients were happy to get this upgrade taken care of. Once moisture gets into stucco exteriors, problems multiply. This is a complication any homeowner would want to avoid when they’re ready to sell their home for its full value.

If you’re worried about your home’s stucco, give us a call. We can help with stucco remediation, and exterior upgrades to prevent minor problems before they become major concerns.

How This Couple Went From Chaos to Calm With a Newly Redesigned Laundry Room

Do you love your laundry room? That was the question we asked our Lower Gwynedd clients when we began their first-floor renovation. Sara and Craig put extreme effort into designing a beautiful and functional laundry room when updating their home. The room has a simple, yet dramatic black-and-white color scheme, wainscoting for architectural detail, heavy black hooks for outerwear and bags, and a full-view back door that provides natural light and easy access to the backyard.

When Style and Functionality Meet

When style and functionality meet, it creates a balance between aesthetic and practicality, resulting in a finished product that looks amazing and serves its intended purpose effectively. And since the laundry room is often considered the hardest working room in the home, the design must be durable and timeless.

Puppy Approved

This laundry room is equipped with storage, folding space and a hanging rod. It features a no-fuss stainless steel sink and leathered granite for easy cleaning. The room has black fixtures and hardware that contrast the white cabinetry and soft gray walls. The ceramic tile floors and stock cabinetry are cost-effective selections without compromising a gorgeous farm-style design. Additionally, the sink in the room is used to wash off the couple’s Cavachon puppy after muddy playtime in the backyard.

Redesign Your Laundry Room With the Help of Creative Contracting

The laundry room is often subjugated to “closed door” status. Don’t let that be the case in your home. Contact Creative Contracting today to get started on a stylish and functional space you’ll love to show off.

A Montgomery County Kitchen Gets a Light and Airy Remodel

When our clients began their kitchen remodel journey with us, they knew they wanted a light and airy welcoming space with room for their family to gather. What they didn’t realize was that once they decided on the design, finalized the budget and agreed upon a timeline, they thought they’d gotten over the biggest hurdles. But then reality set in and decisions needed to be made on cabinets, hardware, and appliances —and the possibilities seemed endless and overwhelming.

Decisions, Decisions

The homeowners painstakingly weighed every decision to create a beautifully designed kitchen. Refreshing traditional red oak floors were lightened to remove golden undertones, creating a lighter shade that coordinates beautifully with the neutral white oak island. We were able to expand the white oak through the space with custom shelving, an accent file folder and charging storage cabinet, and a new mantle in the adjoining family room.

A light wood table, chairs and bar seating continue the feeling of soft neutrality. Namibian white quartzite and white glossy tile with a handcrafted look, add a subtle, soft texture to the space. This neutral backdrop allows the beautiful Brizo luxe gold faucets to pop. The cabinet hardware echoes the intricate knurling of the faucet design. In this case, thinking of hardware as a jewelry accessory for the kitchen makes perfect sense.

Gold Highlights Create a Vibrant Kitchen

Light fixtures add vibrancy to the gold highlights and paned glass doors in the upper cabinetry supply ambient light, creating a soft glow. All lighting is on dimmers, so it’s easy to create the desired atmosphere at any time of the day. This gorgeous, subtly neutral kitchen is easy to accessorize with pops of color and natural greenery.
