The Full Reveal: An Aging in Place Addition in Montgomery County

Navigating the large layout of a two-story colonial was not what our clients had in mind as they entered their golden years. Well aware of the changes they needed to make to overcome the challenges of climbing stairs in their current home, this Lansdale couple explored luxury senior living as well as ranch homes in the area. They sought a solution that would not only meet their current needs but also cater to their evolving requirements.

After an exhaustive investigation and a realization of the limits within the housing market, the couple made a smart decision – they chose to enhance their existing home. The addition of a first-floor primary bedroom suite became the cornerstone of their plan, allowing them to remain in the home and neighborhood that holds a special place in their hearts.

A Thoughtful and Contemporary Primary Suite

Lansdale Primary suite

Opting for a more contemporary aesthetic in their new addition, the couple embraced a sophisticated palette of grays and warm neutrals. The primary bedroom suite offers a spacious haven, complete with a small sitting area for moments of quiet reflection. Beautiful glass-paned French Doors were designed to allow no-step access to the expanded patio, creating a harmonious flow between the indoors and outdoors.

Lansdale custom closet

A custom-designed closet in the bedroom provides extra storage, ensuring everything has its place. Pocket doors were thoughtfully designed to maximize the space and provide an uninterrupted flow into the large walk-in closet.

Balancing Beauty and Functionality in This Primary Bathroom

In the primary bathroom, we strike a perfect balance between beauty and functionality. A double vanity takes center stage, featuring a rich espresso wood and a sleek marble countertop. The brushed nickel fixtures and large-format tile floor display various shades of gray and infuse the space with a sense of sophistication, while the black metal arch mirrors provide a modern touch.

To meet the practical needs of the homeowners, custom cabinetry has been seamlessly integrated into the primary bathroom. This addition not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also provides extra storage for clothing and laundry essentials. Ensuring a cohesive design, a makeup table in the same rich espresso wood as the double vanity perfectly complements all the cabinetry in this inviting primary bathroom.

The homeowners’ forward-thinking approach to their future needs was remarkable. To suit both their current lifestyle and future considerations, we crafted a fully accessible, threshold-free shower featuring a bench and a tiled niche for storage. ADA-compliant grab bars ensure safety without compromising the overall design. The shower walls adorned with light gray textured tiles add a touch of sophistication to this walk-in shower, complemented by dark gray floor tiles and a matching shower niche that ties in with the overall bathroom floor design.

2023 Year in Review

As 2023 comes to a close, we’re taking a look back at some of the memorable projects we completed for our clients across Montgomery and Bucks counties. 2023 was a big year for kitchen transformations in the Philadelphia suburbs. We’re grateful our clients chose to entrust such a significant home remodel to our Creative Contracting team. If you’re considering a kitchen remodel in the new year, these projects can serve as a great inspiration of what is possible when it comes to kitchen design.

At Creative Contracting, our approach is always to listen to your needs, understand your style and preferences and turn that into the space you’ve been dreaming of! With our design-build team, we’re the only design- build firm you need to complete a kitchen, bath, whole home remodel or addition project. Now let’s look back at some of those gorgeous kitchens we renovated in 2023.

Bucks County Kitchen Gets A Sunny and Elegant Refresh

Creative Contracting 2023 Year in Review

This Warminster family came to us because their kitchen didn’t reflect their modern, sophisticated style. Beyond the outdated aesthetic, it lacked light and the dark atmosphere made it feel even more cramped and uninviting. In addition, our clients wanted to find some creative ways to maximize their storage space to make the kitchen much more enjoyable to use.

Creative Contracting 2023 Year in Review

To address all of these requests, our design team went to work to come up with a strategy to lighten and brighten the space while giving it a modern refresh that included plenty of ingenious storage solutions. This began with the foundational elements of the space: new vinyl plank flooring in a warm spring oak color and crisp white custom shaker cabinetry which added plenty of elevated architectural elements to the space.

Creative Contracting 2023 Year in Review

From there, we added in two types of complementary countertops in natural black stone and white quartz to add visual interest. We removed a cumbersome above-the-sink window and replaced it with a trio of windows for more user-friendly operation.

Finally, we added in the finer details to create a fresh, refined look. These included brushed gold cabinet hardware, dimmable task lighting and gold chandelier-style pendant lighting, along with a natural Carrara marble tile to further warm up the space. And to address those storage concerns, we crafted an oversized island with ample drawers and shelving to handle pantry staples and all of those kitchen gadgets that should be close at hand. The end result is a bright, inviting space that is sure to welcome the family in from Sunday breakfast to weeknight dinners.

From Basic Kitchen to Breathtaking in Montgomery County

Creative Contracting 2023 Year in Review

In Wynnewood, a family’s love for cooking together sparked a kitchen transformation request: bring in more light, more space, and more connection to the outdated kitchen. Their old kitchen felt isolated from the rest of the living spaces. And the style left a lot to be desired. So our team went to work, dismantling walls that were breaking up the flow of conversation and connection. The result is an open, airy kitchen space that harmoniously connects with the surrounding living areas.

Creative Contracting 2023 Year in Review

Our clients connected with the right, classic feel of navy blue, so we used this color for the shaker cabinets and accented it with brushed gold pulls and a timeless gray subway tile for the backsplash. Wide plank flooring brings a touch of warmth to the space and a gorgeous range hood and spacious island create focal points that invite both the family and their guests to be a part of their culinary passion.

Crafting Dreams: The Journey of Renovating a Colonial-style home to a Luxe Modern Farmhouse

At Creative Contracting, we firmly believe that dreams can indeed come true. We understand that finding the perfect home can often feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. The lure of brand-new houses with their pristine façades often comes at the cost of sacrificing space and customization. Conversely, charming neighborhoods boasting lush gardens are sometimes plagued by dated houses that don’t quite align with modern tastes. That’s where we step in – when faced with the challenge of reinventing a home to fit a family’s unique needs and style within a realistic budget, our creative juices start flowing.

Revitalizing a Conventional Brick Home With Innovative Design

To begin, the exterior of the house will undergo a striking makeover. The once-traditional brick façade will embrace a sleek modernity with dark siding and touches of natural wood.

The brick itself didn’t escape the transformation, being adorned in a contemporary color palette that harmonizes with the overall aesthetic.

In the heart of the home, a new addition takes the form of a floor-to-ceiling windowed great room. This addition not only floods the interior with natural light but also capitalizes on the property’s serene backyard views, providing a seamless connection between indoors and outdoors.

Visualizing the Interior and Crafting Informed Design Choices

The journey from concept to realization starts with precise planning. A comprehensive floor plan is crafted, meticulously tailored to the homeowner’s wish list.

This particular plan unfolds into a breathtaking great room, a functional home office, and an open-concept kitchen that not only boasts ample seating but also caters to modern entertainment needs with a dedicated TV viewing area.

3D Rendering of Interior Kitchen

Traditional spaces like the formal living and dining rooms gracefully give way to a more casual and inviting living area, perfect for fostering family togetherness and socializing.

Keys to Design-Build Success

As we move forward in the design process, interior renderings become a valuable tool for conveying the envisioned transformation. Our clients step into our conference room, where three-dimensional plans come to life on a generous big-screen TV. This immersive experience allows them to tangibly explore their future space, making informed decisions with confidence. Once final selections are made, our drawings and renderings evolve to showcase these personalized touches, providing a visual roadmap for the project’s execution.

Designing a project – be it a modest enhancement or an extensive renovation – involves a multitude of moving parts. Our role extends from the initial spark of an idea to the grand finale of a completed project. The time invested in crafting a holistic design that aligns with both vision and budget is pivotal to the success of the project. Once construction is underway, specialized software becomes our ally, fostering seamless communication between clients, production teams, and on-site workers. This ensures that queries are promptly addressed and that everyone is on the same page regarding daily progress.

In conclusion, the journey of transforming this colonial-style home into a modern farmhouse masterpiece is a testament to our commitment to turning dreams into reality. With a blend of innovative technology, creative design solutions, and a passionate team, our Design-Build remodeling firm stands at the forefront of making our client’s aspirations come alive. Whether it’s a simple renovation or a complete overhaul, we embrace every opportunity to create living spaces that deeply connect with the homeowner.

5 Important Questions to Ask Professional Remodeling Services

Remodeling your home is a great way to make your property the ideal living environment for you and your family. It’s also a great way to add value to your home by modernizing any room, including your kitchen and bathroom. According to House Method, more than a fourth of all homeowners renovated one or more bathrooms in 2022. If you’re considering doing something similar, then here are five important questions to ask professional remodeling services before hiring one.

1. Can I See Work Samples and References?

Any worthwhile design build remodeling service should have plenty of great work examples to show you. They also should have several local references that you should check in with to get a better idea of the quality and manner of the work they do. If neither is available, then you might want to find another contractor.

2. Are you Insured and Bonded?

Remodeling your home is a big investment and it’s important to find a professional who’s covered. Your choice in design build remodeling services should include a contractor who is insured and bonded to protect your home. Make sure this is one of the first questions you ask when trying to find the right company in the area to keep your home safe.

3. How Can I Lower My Utility Bills?

A quality design build remodeling service also should have access to the latest environmentally friendly products that help to reduce your utility usage without sacrificing your living standards. Smart bathrooms are a good example and can help reduce your water and electricity usage, which in turn lowers your utility costs. Your contractor also should know of other ways to improve your home and lower your costs, such as installing a tankless water heater.

4. Who Obtains the Remodeling Permits?

You can’t begin a design build remodeling project without the proper permits from your local unit of government. One of the many advantages of working with Creative Contracting is that we can obtain all the permits for you, so you don’t have to worry about them. As a dependable design-build firm, we want to ensure you have all of the permits in North Wales, PA before your project is started. Having them in place before starting the project helps to prevent delays and unexpected fines.

5. How Long Will the Remodel Take?

If you have a tight schedule, it’s important to know how long the renovation will take when hiring a professional team. This way, you can prepare in advance and minimize disruptions. Your contractor should tell you the plan and the order in which work will be done.

You can learn more about our professional design build remodeling services by calling our team today. We’d be happy to help you start planning your next project. Get the home you’ve been dreaming of in North Wales, PA with help from us.

Exterior Upgrades for This Maple Glen Home

Have you ever had the feeling that your home needs a refresh and an upgrade? That’s just what our Maple Glen clients were thinking when they reached out to us. The homeowners shared with us their desire to create a new look for their all-stucco exterior to create a modern style.

What Is Stucco?

Stucco is a cement-type mixture made of Portland cement, lime, sand and water. It goes on the outermost layer of residential structures and is set to a thin finish coat. Stucco has been a popular exterior finish for many years, but it has its limitations. Due to its brittle nature, stucco will crack as a house’s foundation settles, which can be a pain point for homeowners.

A Stone and Siding Façade Gives Instant Curb Appeal

The exterior of the house had been entirely stucco, but the homeowners knew the problems stucco could cause to the home. Many homeowners, however, are unaware of the risks stucco poses to the structure and durability of a home. Stucco is known to cause water infiltration, encouraging the growth of mold and rot in the underlying structure. We always encourage clients to move away from stucco and replace it with more durable materials that will protect their family’s health and investment in the property.

As you can see from the before and after photos, the switch to stone and siding for their home wasn’t just practical, it also provided a major update and created a polished feel to the exterior. Our clients have found that upgrading to stone and vinyl siding has been a smart investment that not only improved the appearance of their home but also increased its value and reduced maintenance costs.

Since it’s common to have to undergo a stucco remediation process prior to selling a home, our clients were happy to get this upgrade taken care of. Once moisture gets into stucco exteriors, problems multiply. This is a complication any homeowner would want to avoid when they’re ready to sell their home for its full value.

If you’re worried about your home’s stucco, give us a call. We can help with stucco remediation, and exterior upgrades to prevent minor problems before they become major concerns.

How This Couple Went From Chaos to Calm With a Newly Redesigned Laundry Room

Do you love your laundry room? That was the question we asked our Lower Gwynedd clients when we began their first-floor renovation. Sara and Craig put extreme effort into designing a beautiful and functional laundry room when updating their home. The room has a simple, yet dramatic black-and-white color scheme, wainscoting for architectural detail, heavy black hooks for outerwear and bags, and a full-view back door that provides natural light and easy access to the backyard.

When Style and Functionality Meet

When style and functionality meet, it creates a balance between aesthetic and practicality, resulting in a finished product that looks amazing and serves its intended purpose effectively. And since the laundry room is often considered the hardest working room in the home, the design must be durable and timeless.

Puppy Approved

This laundry room is equipped with storage, folding space and a hanging rod. It features a no-fuss stainless steel sink and leathered granite for easy cleaning. The room has black fixtures and hardware that contrast the white cabinetry and soft gray walls. The ceramic tile floors and stock cabinetry are cost-effective selections without compromising a gorgeous farm-style design. Additionally, the sink in the room is used to wash off the couple’s Cavachon puppy after muddy playtime in the backyard.

Redesign Your Laundry Room With the Help of Creative Contracting

The laundry room is often subjugated to “closed door” status. Don’t let that be the case in your home. Contact Creative Contracting today to get started on a stylish and functional space you’ll love to show off.

A Montgomery County Kitchen Gets a Light and Airy Remodel

When our clients began their kitchen remodel journey with us, they knew they wanted a light and airy welcoming space with room for their family to gather. What they didn’t realize was that once they decided on the design, finalized the budget and agreed upon a timeline, they thought they’d gotten over the biggest hurdles. But then reality set in and decisions needed to be made on cabinets, hardware, and appliances —and the possibilities seemed endless and overwhelming.

Decisions, Decisions

The homeowners painstakingly weighed every decision to create a beautifully designed kitchen. Refreshing traditional red oak floors were lightened to remove golden undertones, creating a lighter shade that coordinates beautifully with the neutral white oak island. We were able to expand the white oak through the space with custom shelving, an accent file folder and charging storage cabinet, and a new mantle in the adjoining family room.

A light wood table, chairs and bar seating continue the feeling of soft neutrality. Namibian white quartzite and white glossy tile with a handcrafted look, add a subtle, soft texture to the space. This neutral backdrop allows the beautiful Brizo luxe gold faucets to pop. The cabinet hardware echoes the intricate knurling of the faucet design. In this case, thinking of hardware as a jewelry accessory for the kitchen makes perfect sense.

Gold Highlights Create a Vibrant Kitchen

Light fixtures add vibrancy to the gold highlights and paned glass doors in the upper cabinetry supply ambient light, creating a soft glow. All lighting is on dimmers, so it’s easy to create the desired atmosphere at any time of the day. This gorgeous, subtly neutral kitchen is easy to accessorize with pops of color and natural greenery.

The additional set of windows flanking the original French doors to the backyard change the entire feel of the space and offer a beautiful view of the lovely patio and provide more natural light.

Creative Contracting Can Transform Your Kitchen

We love working with clients who are completely involved in their projects. Working closely to create a successful and satisfying kitchen design is extremely important and rewarding. Ready to lighten up your kitchen? Get started today.

4 Signs Your Bathroom Needs a Remodel

Home remodeling is a great way to add value to your home and make your time living there more comfortable. There’s no better way to make your home more comfortable than with a bathroom remodel! Below are some signs you should consider remodeling your bathroom for an aesthetic upgrade and improved functionality.

1. The Toilet Has Cracks

According to the World Toilet Organization, the average person uses the toilet around 2,500 times every year! Unfortunately, toilet seats, and any parts that come in contact with water, are prone to cracking and degrading over time. Cracks can cause bacteria to accumulate more easily and make it difficult for your toilet to function properly. If you notice cracks in your toilet seat or base, a bathroom remodel can be a great way to get a durable, hygienic replacement.

2. You Have Changing Needs

Our lives are always changing. As our needs change, the layout of our homes should also adjust accordingly. If you’ve been living in your home for a while and find yourself wishing for different bathroom fixtures or storage solutions, it may be time to remodel your bathroom. It can be as simple as swapping out an old bathtub for a new walk-in shower or adding extra storage space with shelves and cabinets.

3. It Has an Outdated Design

Technology is constantly advancing, so why should your bathroom stay the same? Outdated designs are often inefficient and lack modern amenities. Updating the design of your bathroom can bring it into the 21st century with cutting-edge features like heated floors, energy-efficient lighting, and luxurious bathtubs. Home remodeling that focuses on technology will also give you the opportunity to choose from an array of colors, textures, and materials for a completely unique look.

4. There Are Damaged Fixtures

Bathrooms tend to get a lot of use and abuse. Over time, fixtures can become damaged or worn out from regular use. A bathroom remodel is a great way to upgrade your fixtures for better performance and aesthetics. You can choose from a variety of modern faucets, showers, and toilets that are designed to be both beautiful and functional.

If you’ve noticed any of these signs, it may be time to consider remodeling your bathroom for a more efficient and comfortable living space. You’ll find that the time and effort invested in a bathroom remodel will pay off in the long run, as your home’s value and convenience are improved. 3 Reasons a Master Bedroom Remodel Is Worth the Investment

Master bedroom remodels are an undertaking that will present multiple advantages. No matter your budget, there are actions that you can take to revamp your master bedroom space to the condition that you deserve. By putting the time and money into your bedroom remodel, you will reap countless benefits. Here are three reasons why a master bedroom remodel is worth the investment.

1. Increase Your Space and Storage

When embarking on a master suite remodel, additional storage space is on many top-priority lists. As many people can vouch for, a cluttered room can soon become disorganized and dysfunctional for everyday living. By implementing practical storage methods while remodeling, this chaos can be no more. Some popular space-saving installments include built-in shelving, closet renovations, or storage-saving furniture.

2. Increase Your Comfort Level

A master bedroom is where you want to feel most comfortable. With this considered, a bedroom remodel will be an investment for your quality of life. Each homeowner has different wants or needs for living spaces, and a remodel is the perfect time to target these desires and add them to your master bedroom. Design-build remodelers, like those located in North Wales, PA, can assist with brainstorming practical remodel choices. As remodels are made in a modern and functional fashion, there will be greater demand for your home. As a result, you will be able to receive more money if and when the house is back on the market!

What Are My Style Options When Remodeling My Kitchen?

The kitchen remodeling process can be a special time to create a space that reflects your taste and style choices. There are a few different aesthetic styles you can choose from when remodeling your space. From Scandinavian, rustic farmhouse, and modern, you can find the perfect style for your home. Let’s take a look at three different types of styles you can choose from.

Scandinavian Style

With the sleek and clean look of the Scandinavian style, your kitchen will soon look open and organized for any home gathering. While this kitchen style is like the minimalist design style, there are distinct differences. According to Home & Gardens, Scandinavian styles include cozier textiles, warm-toned wood accents, and neutral color schemes. Implementing these naturally toned materials can create a calming and soothing kitchen.

Large amounts of natural lighting, light-toned limed wood, greenery, and refurbished furniture or kitchen materials are the basis of a Scandinavian kitchen. By incorporating these elements into your design build remodeling, you will achieve this classic style that will make your space feel refreshing and serene.

Rustic Farmhouse Style

The rustic farmhouse style incorporates deep color schemes and vintage accents into the kitchen space. These elements can give a rugged and homey feel to your kitchen space.

Before remodeling your kitchen with a rustic farmhouse style, select neutral colors to add to the space. The neutral color scheme pairs well with the rugged furniture and cabinetry that often accompanies a rustic farmhouse-style kitchen. Designer-build remodelers in North Wales, Philadelphia can assist with decisions about elements such as light fixtures and other kitchen accessories.

Modern Style

A modern-styled kitchen is contemporary with its polished and shining design. Deep-colored cabinetry, lighter kitchen backsplashes, and surprising color additions are aspects of a modern-styled kitchen. Colors in the current modern design style include forest green, navy blue, and a variety of gray shades. These colors are often on cabinetry, backsplashes, or other kitchen accessories.

Cabinetry handles or barstools typically have bright and unique colors within a modern kitchen style. While design build remodeling, implement these bright and surprising colors into the areas of your choosing and watch your space flourish with character.

According to Comfy Living, 81% of home-owning renovators were boomers or Gen X in 2018, so if you’re in one of these generations, then start planning your remodel today! Design build remodeling may occasionally seem overwhelming but investing your time in a kitchen renovation will bring your space to life. Take the time to choose a kitchen style that fits your style by getting in touch with us today.

3 Signs Your Home Needs Remodeling

Remodeling a house is a big undertaking, and you need the help of a good remodeling contractor to get through the process. According to Comfy Living, a good 80% of homes in the U.S. are more than 20 years old and in need of improvement. This fact shows just how popular remodeling is. But if you take really good care of your home, you might not see that the home could use some remodeling. Here are three signs to watch for that show you are in need of home remodeling.

1. The Home Starts Needing Constant Repairs

Homes need repair. That’s just a fact of home ownership. But when the repairs become constant, it’s time to look at the structure of the house as well as things like the flooring and fixtures. Sometimes ripping out part of the home and rebuilding and remodeling are more efficient than doing constant repairs.

2. You’ve Just Gotten Rid of a Hidden Bug Infestation

Simply having a bug infestation doesn’t mean your house needs full remodeling. But if the infestation was hidden and large, such as with termites, that’s a good sign to start remodeling the home. If nothing else, you need to repair internal damage caused by the bugs and ensure entry points are sealed up. Home remodeling is a great way to accomplish this.

2. People Compliment Your “Vintage” Fixtures

Fashions and styles tend to go through cycles, coming back as vintage fashion usually a couple of decades after they were first hot. If you’ve started noticing that the fixtures in your home that were new when you bought the place are now being called names like “vintage,” it’s time to update. Obviously, if you like having time-capsule kitchens, then the vintage label might not seem so bad. But behind that older stove lies potentially older wiring that needs to be updated or gas lines that you need to convert to another power source.

Remodeling a home isn’t done overnight, so if you’ve decided to start changing up your living space, contact home remodeling companies for estimates and ideas. You can remodel room by room or all at once, but you’ll need a good contractor in either case. Contact us today at Creative Contracting in North Wales, PA to get started on your remodeling project.
